CONNECTING DSE VIA TCP/IP

If your PC has several Ethernet interfaces, try deactivating all other Ethernet
interfaces.

If a WLAN is also active with your PC, test whether the device is found when you
switch off the WLAN for the duration of the scan. With some WLAN configurations,
problems can occur if multiple Ethernet ports are enabled.

If you are using the device in a large network, contact your network administrator.
There are a series of options in managed networks to limit or completely prevent data
transmission between the individual nodes. Administrative access control settings
may therefore by needed here.

Simultaneous access via Ethernet (TCP/IP) and EtherCAT is only possible over
EtherCAT networks if you use an Ethernet switch port, such as the Beckhoff EL6601, in
the PLC. This will allow you to access the DSE via EtherCAT and via your browser.
6.2 Connecting by PROFINET
This section describes the use of the PROFINET protocol for communicating between a
DSE and a Siemens PLC. The example shows the settings for the project in the TIA portal
software, and how to transfer individual values. The example assumes that the DSE has
already been configured via the web browser, you have downloaded the GSD file either
from the device or from the HBM website, and the DSE and PLC are interconnected. The
IP address of the DSE in the example is 192.168.178.46.

Create a new project in the TIA portal software and assign it a name.
