RF Detector Adjustment
This procedure is meant to be used in conjunction with the Forward and Reflected and
Drive power calibration procedures. It provides the steps necessary to perform the
hardware calibration of the 4 way detector in the PA Cabinet or the 4 way detector in the
Control Cabinet (The Control Cabinet will have an 8 way detector if you have 3 or more
PA Cabinets). Once these steps are done, you should return to the procedure that
directed you here to finish the calibration.
STEP 1
Loosen the hardware holding the detector in the cabinet and turn it over.
If necessary, allow it to swing free being held by the RF Cables. Remove
the snap-on shields to gain access to the internal gain adjust switches.
STEP 2
Move JP1 on the RF detector to the TEST position, pins 2-3.
STEP 3
The RF input should be at the level specified in the calibration procedure
being followed.
STEP 4
Measure the voltage at the test point in the RF Detector assembly for the
stage you are calibrating. The detectors are sectional with the
adjustments located directly below the input. All 8 test points are located
on the one end but correspond directly to the input number, J1 = TP1, J2
= TP2 etc... See the RF Detector schematic in Section 500 of the
schematic package.
STEP 5
Turn the potentiometer fully clockwise (CW) for the maximum voltage
out of the op-amp (the rail is approximately 9 VDC).
STEP 6
Select the gain dipswitch settings that give a voltage reading less than
the rail voltage, but greater than 4Vdc (6Vdc is ideal). Make sure both
inputs to the op-amp are switched the same.
STEP 7
The 3 gain settings are:
Low - dipswitches 1 & 4 ON
Mid - dipswitches 2 & 5 ON
High - dipswitches 3 & 6 ON
STEP 8
Adjust the trim pot for 4Vdc at the test point.
STEP 9
Move JP1 on the RF detector to the normal position, pins 1-2.
STEP 10
Secure the detector and return to the calibration procedure.
