Rack mounting a MediaStore 5100 or 5000 series
With all its component parts installed, the MediaStore 5100 or 5000 series can be difficult to install a
rack cabinet. Make sure to note any critical requirements and good handling practices in the installation
procedure.
CAUTION:
Make that you have fitted and checked a suitable anti-static wrist or ankle strap
and observe all conventional ESD precautions when handling modules and components.
Avoid contact with the internal backplane components and module connectors.
The MediaStore ships with its own rail kit that must be used to install the unit. A set of mounting rails
is supplied for use in 19-inch rack cabinets. These rails have been designed and tested to handle the
maximum enclosure weight and to ensure that multiple MediaStore units can be installed without the loss
of space within the rack. Use of other mounting hardware may cause some loss of rack space. The rack
mounting rail kit also incorporates a rear hold down mechanism to ensure shock and vibration immunity.
To install a MediaStore chassis:
1. Check for damage. Report any damage to your Harmonic Sales Representative.
2. Install the rack mounting rails at the desired location in your rack. Refer to the detailed drawings
supplied with the rail kit for assembly details. Refer to the detailed drawings supplied with the rail kit
