Chapter 7: MediaPort 7000 series hardware reference
MediaPort 7000 GPIO signal assignments
The GPIO connector on a MediaPort 7000 module can be connected to an external device and used to
control players.

NOTE:
The GPIO connector on the MediaPort 7000 series module is a “female” connector.
For information on configuring GPIO on a MediaPort using SystemManager, refer to
“MediaPort Configuration” in the
Harmonic SystemManager User Guide
.
About MediaPort 7000 and ChannelPort timing
Timing works the same way on both MediaPort 7000 and ChannelPort modules.
If reference VITC is present on the timing input of a MediaPort or ChannelPort, it will provide the timecode
information to any Players associated with that MediaPort or ChannelPort, unless it is overridden by a
LTC connection on the Spectrum video server.
If a LTC timecode source is connected to the Spectrum video server, the Spectrum video server
automatically uses that as the timecode source for any attached Player. This setting overrides the
reference VITC from the MediaPort or ChannelPort for purposes of automation. However, if the attached
Player is configured with a different frame rate than that of the LTC input, then its reference will not be
overridden. For example, a LTC input with a frame rate of 25 Hz would not override the reference for a
player configured with a frame rate of 29.97 Hz.
Serial control connections for a MediaPort 7000 and a
ChannelPort
The MediaPort 7000 and the ChannelPort modules include an RJ-45 port for RS-422 serial control
connections with an automation system.
NOTE:
Because manufacturer specifications for cables, connectors and adapters
can change, always consult with your control system vendor first for the most current
information on interface equipment and peripherals.
NOTE:
Depending on the MediaPort, there can be between one and six serial control
ports, each of which controls an independent DVB/ASI output. You are not required to use
all available ports.
On both the MediaPort 7000 and the ChannelPort, the left-most RJ-45 connector is wired for two
channels (Ch 0 and Ch 1). Harmonic supplies an RJ-45/ DB-9 splitter cable, which provides the Channel
0 on one DB-9 and the Channel 1 signals on the other.
