Chapter 3: Installing optional cards
Unracking the chassis
Ensure that you have gathered device logs and documented the current connections to the device.
DANGER:
The front panel is susceptible to electrostatic discharge (ESD) when the bezel
is removed. Wear the appropriate ESD protection when you remove the bezel.
1. Note the IP address for the ProStream X to be updated. You will need to use the same IP address
when returning the device in the rack.
2. Note the port that each network cable is connected to so that you can reconnect cables to the same
ports.
3. Power down the device.
4. Remove all cables that are connected to the rear panel.
5. Remove the bezel.
6. Pull the blue release button in the inner member to release the lock and carefully slide the chassis out
of the rack unit.
7. Remove the inner members from the chassis.
These parts will be reused.
Removing the device cover
A non-skid surface may be needed to prevent the device from sliding on your work surface.
DANGER:
Observe all conventional ESD precautions when handling ProStream devices
and components.
Before you begin
Unpack the component and visually inspect for any damage. If it is damaged, call Harmonic Technical
Support and do not continue with this procedure.
CAUTION:
Power down the ProStream and unplug all peripheral devices and power
cables.
1. Using a screwdriver, remove the top cover screw(s).
2. Loosen the two captive thumb screws located on the back edge of the system cover.
3. Slide the cover back and lift upward.
