The MAC Aura PXL accepts video pixel control using Martin’s proprietary P3 protocol that has been a
well-established standard in the industry for over 10 years. It lets you send a video signal from a media
server or other video source to P3-compliant video display devices and LED lighting fixtures over Ethernet
cable using Martin’s reliable P3 data protocol.
The intuitive graphic user interface in Martin P3 controllers lets you visualize and set up a custom
installation that can contain a huge number of display devices in any kind of physical arrangement within a
few minutes. Device identification is automatic. You can arrange devices on the monitor using
drag-and-drop. System latency is often zero and typically < 1 ms. If you use P3 you do not need to worry
about IP addresses, as P3 does not use IP addresses or communication.
The MAC Aura PXL’s 19 Beam and 141 Aura pixels will always be treated as individual pixels in by a P3
video system controller, regardless of which DMX mode the fixture is set to.
If both video from a media server (or other source) and DMX, Art-Net or sACN data from a lighting console
are sent into the P3 System Controller, the P3 System Controller will merge these together and send them
to the fixtures over one single network, avoiding the need to run two data cables.
If you use a P3 System Controller, it is also no longer necessary to use the control panels on fixtures, as the
P3 System Controller will configure all DMX modes, start addresses, universes and other settings remotely.
This feature lets you address tens or hundreds of fixtures in a matter of seconds without needing to access
the control panel of each fixture.
A P3 System Controller will also monitor all fixtures for warnings and errors, letting you manage the
installation remotely from one central location.
