Product Overview and Specifications

Applicability Notice

The information in this manual applies to the DXLink 4K Decor Style Wallplate Transmitter and the DXLink 4K HDMI Receiver Module 

listed in the table below. In this manual, these products will be referred to as the 4K HDMI Wallplate TX and the 4K RX. When 

referring to transmitter units, the term Transmitters is used. When referring to receiver units, the term Receivers is used. When 

referring to physical aspects of these units, the terms Wallplate and Module are used. 

DXLink™ Twisted Pair 4K Transmitters and Receivers

Compatibility Information



The Transmitters and the Receivers listed above are compatible with a number of other DXLink products (see the section 

“Product Compatibility Tables” on page 8). 



The 4K HDMI Wallplate TX must use a DXLink power injector when connecting directly to a Receiver; others may cause 

damage. 



The 4K HDMI Wallplate TX and 4K RX are compatible with Enova DGX 100 Series DXLink Twisted Pair 4K Input and Output 

Boards (DGX-I-DXL-4K and DGX-O-DXL-4K). 



DXLink Twisted Pair 4K Transmitters and Receivers are compatible with DXLink Twisted Pair equipment (see the “DXLink 

Compatibility Appendix” on page 89).

Product Notes

The Transmitters and Receivers are designed for transmission of a 4K HDMI signal over twisted pair cable (or a DVI signal via a 

DVI-to-HDMI cable adapter) up to 262 feet (80 m). Functionality is briefly described below. 

4K HDMI Wallplate TX –

 This wallplate receives a 4K HDMI signal (with or without embedded digital audio) from a source device. 

The signal(s) is transported over twisted pair cable to an Enova DGX Digital Media Switcher or directly to a DXLink Receiver. If the 

entire path is 4K-capable (i.e., either the Transmitter is directly connected to the Receiver or the intermediate Input and Output 

Boards and the final Receiver are 4K-capable), the 4K HDMI Wallplate TX sends 4K format signals downstream. If the entire path is 

not 4K-capable (e.g., a DXLink Twisted Pair Input Board between the 4K HDMI Wallplate TX and 4K RX), the 4K HDMI Wallplate TX 

sends only signals supported by all downstream DXLink equipment (see the “DXLink Compatibility Appendix” on page 89). 
Both video and audio are transported over twisted pair cable to an Enova DGX Digital Media Switcher or directly to a Receiver. Direct 

connection to a Receiver requires either PDXL-2 (FG1090-170) or PS-POE-AT-TC (FG423-84).
Per UL – DXLink Wallplate Transmitters are to be used in a Network Environment 0 per IEC TR 62101, and connected only to PoE 

networks without routing outside the plant. DXLink Wallplate Transmitters are intended to be used only with Listed Information 

Technology Equipment. 

4K RX –

 The 4K RX receives a 4K HDMI Signal with embedded audio over twisted pair cable from a DXLink Transmitter (or from a 

DXLink compatible device) and sends the signal on to the destination. The 4K RX supports 4K signals received from upstream 

devices. The 4K RX features SmartScale® Technology (integrated EDID output scaling) to ensure an appropriate output resolution, 

plus it supports a Manual (override) option for setting up custom resolutions and a Bypass option. The 4K RX also has IR ports.
In order for audio to be sent out of the analog stereo audio connector on the DX-RX-4K, the audio 

must

 have originated or be 

embedded in the HDMI signal on the attached Switcher or Transmitter as a 2 channel signal (either analog stereo or 2 channel 

L-PCM); Multi-channel (>2 channel) L-PCM formats will pass incomplete audio (only 2 of the multiple channels will be sent). All 

other audio formats will be muted at the connector.

NOTE: 

If a DVI-D signal is used (via a DVI-to-HDMI cable adapter), the advanced audio support from HDMI will not be available.

NOTE: 

These DXLink products support several different modes which are available for system setup and use. Brief explanations of the 

modes are provided in the section “Quick Reference Tables for Modes” on page 14 along with page references to complete 

information.
