FITTING THE GRATE
The Grate
The grate in the Hamlet Solution Inset stove,
comprises of a series of reciprocating cast iron
grate bars, seated on a pivoted ‘comb’. All bars in
the grate are identical, but every other bar is
turned through 180 degrees, with the ends of the
bars marked ‘H’ sitting on the high sections of the
comb, and the ends marked ‘L’ sitting on the low
sections.
Assembling The Grate
If you have purchased the riddling grate bar set as
an upgrade to a
wood only
burning stove you will
need to remove the following items before
commencing with the assembly and fitting of the
grate. ( see page 3 for identification images)
1. Remove the fuel retainer bars.
2.
Remove the wood tray (AFS 1401)
3.
Remove the
Inner
and
Outer
Wood cover plate set (AFS 1404)
See Fig 1 & 2
To assemble the grate
,
First fit the rear grate bar support (AFS 1327 ) into
the
left
and
right
Side Landing slots as shown in
Fig 3.
Next fit the comb and comb extension bar as
follows:-
Feed the comb extension bar through the hole in
the body of the stove from the outer face with the
slotted end inside the stove. Insert the comb into
the hole in the left stove side landing. Align the slot
so as to allow the end section of the comb and pin
to drop into the receiving slot and hole in the
extension bar. Check for free movement by
‘riddling’ the comb extension bar.
See Fig 4 a-d. (page 5)
Fit the grate bars to the low sections of the comb
first, inserting ends marked ‘H’ into the rear
channel with the groove on the underside of the
bar located on the up stand tab, and then lowering
end marked ‘L’ onto the low section of the comb,
see Fig. 5. (page 6)
The upper bar is fitted in a similar manner, but with
the end marked ‘L’ inserted in the rear channel,
and the end marked ‘H’ seated on the high section
of the comb. See Fig. 6. for the assembled grate
layout.
