Keypad / LCD Option
3.1
Introduction
Every hydroSpider has built-in support for a two-line display and a
three-key keypad. The keypad and the LCD are used for quick
operational checks and basic setup. Its convenience lies in the fact
that using it requires no external equipment such as laptop
computers or mobile phones.
Normally, the Keypad / LCD is factory fitted. However, you can order
this option and retrofit it yourself at any time. If purchased later, a
new Keypad / LCD hydroSpider lid will be supplied. You can simply
replace the existing lid and plug the cable into the hydroSpider
mother board. The hydroSpider will automatically recognize the new
option when next powered up.

Using the Keypad and Display
The Keypad / LCD is normally turned off and consumes no power. Pressing and holding any of the
keys for approximately one second turns the display and its backlight on.
In order to conserve battery power, the display will automatically turn off after two minutes of key
press inactivity. The shutdown happens in two stages – firstly the backlight turns off to indicate that
the display is about to switched off, and secondly after approximately another 30 seconds the
display will completely turn off.
Normally, the display shows:

Different display screens are accessed by briefly pressing the left and the right arrow keys. Each key
press will display a new screen:
1. Current date and time
2. Current value of input channels
(a ‘*’ indicates that the most recently logged value is displayed instead of the current state)
3. Current battery charger voltage and battery voltage
4. Current system temperature
5. Current state of System Moisture Indicator
6. Current LAN IP address and IP Mask
7. Software version
Counter and Event channels can be reset by pressing the ‘OK’ button when the channel is displayed,
and then pressing the left or right arrow key to highlight the “YES” option. Press ‘OK’ again to reset
the count to zero.
