1. Information for ins-
tructions
1.1 Informations for the operating instructions
These instructions make it possible to safely operate the MDU 110 Mobile Data
Transfer Unit as a component of an access control system. The instructions are a
constituent of the system, and must be kept in close proximity to the system in a
location where they are accessible to the personnel at all times.
The personnel must have carefully read and understood these instructions before
starting any work. A basic prerequisite for safe working is adherence to all of the
specified safety instructions and handling instructions in these instructions.
The local occupational safety regulations and the general safety regulations for the
area of application of the system also apply.
2. Overview
2.1 MDU 110 brief description
Within the Dialock access control system the MDU 110 (Mobile Data Transfer Unit)
is used to load the terminal configuration data, which have been generated with the
Dialock software, to the MDU’s mass storage and then upload it to the offline
terminals via the RFID interface.
The MDU 110 is also used to read operating records like audit trails and status
information from Dialock offline terminals and make it available to the Dialock
software for administration and system management purposes.
The third application of the MDU 110 is to transfer firmware updates to Dialock
offline terminals.
The communication with the PC on which the access control system is managed is
taking place via a USB 2.0 interface, connector type is USB Mini.
For the PC the MDU 110 appears as a USB mass storage device. Therefore no
drivers need to be installed.
The data exchange between the Dialock offline terminals and the MDU 110 takes
place over an RFID interface with the reader unit of the respective terminal. Thus the
MDU 110 can be used with each offline terminal of the new generation Dialock 2.0.
