NSPECTION
Warning: Protective gloves should be worn while performing the following steps
and changed as often as necessary to prevent the transmission of biohazardous
materials to repair personnel and the surrounding area.
Caution: Always wear an ESD strap when working on the Shaker.
1. Remove the shroud (see Chapter 4, Shroud Removal on page 4-3). Posi-
tion the Shaker with the left side facing forward so the link is easily acces-
sible.

2. Inspect the .125" D x 4.750" L shaft connecting the link D and link Y to-
gether for security and ease of movement. The shaft should fit tightly into
the link Y at either end and should be peened in place at both ends. The
link M and link Y should move freely without excessive play. The Teflon
®
bearings should be free of any damage and should be secure in their
mounting holes. If damage or excessive play is noted, the entire assembly
must be replaced.
3. Inspect the .125 D x 3.515 L in. shaft for damage and ease of movement.
Examine the Teflon bearings for any damage and security in their mount-
ing holes. The shaft should glide smoothly in and out of bearings without
excessive side to side play. If the shaft or bearings are damaged or have
excessive play, replace the parts necessary to return the Shaker to proper
operating condition.
