Configure the potentiostat
N O T I C E
Do not set the CELL MODE knob to CELL unless liquid flows through the flow cell.
Configure the potentiostat for the QuikChem amperometric cyanide methods.
1. Close the amperometric detector enclosure.
2. Set the CELL MODE knob to STBY.
3. Set the POWER switch of the potentiostat to ON.
4. Set the DISPLAY knob to APP E V.
5. Turn the APP E knob until the display shows approximately “.000” (0 V).
6. Set the FILTER (Hz) switch to 0.08.
7. Set the RANGE nA knob to 100.
8. Set the DISPLAY knob to OFFSET nA.
9. Turn the OFFSET knob until the display shows approximately “0.00” or "00.0" (0 nA).
10. Set the DISPLAY knob to OUTPUT nA.
11. Set the pump to on.
12. Select the pump speed. Refer to the QuikChem method for the pump speed.
13. Make sure that liquid comes out the outlet tube of the flow cell.
14. Set the CELL MODE knob to CELL.
The reading (output current) shows on the display.
15. Let the reading decrease and become stable (e.g., 3 to 8 hours).
16. When the reading is stable, set the DISPLAY knob to OFFSET nA.
17. Turn the OFFSET knob until the display shows approximately “0.00” or "00.0" (0 nA).
18. Set the DISPLAY knob to OUTPUT nA.
The potentiostat is now configured. Refer to the QuikChem method to do an analysis. Make sure that
the enclosure is closed during analysis.
