Replacing a DAC or AOC cable
CAUTION:
•
The bend radius of the cable must be a minimum of eight times the cable diameter.
•
Do not use excessive force when you replace a cable. If the cable cannot be removed or
installed, verify that the removal or installation procedure is correct.
•
To remove the cable smoothly and avoid damaging the module and slot, pull the pull latch
horizontally to remove a cable.
The replacement procedure is similar for DAC and AOC cables. The following uses an SFP+ DAC
cable as an example:
To replace an SFP+ DAC cable:
1.
Wear an ESD wrist strap and make sure it has a good skin contact and is reliably grounded. For
more information, see "Installing FRUs."
2.
Gently press the cable connector in, and then pull the pull latch on the cable outward to pull out
the cable connector.
3.
Install a new cable.
