Parameters
delay-time
: Sets a link down suppression interval, in seconds. The value range is 2 to 10.
Description
Use the
link-delay
command to set the link down suppression interval on an Ethernet interface.
Use the
undo link-delay
command to restore the default.
By default, the link down suppression is disabled. Ethernet interfaces report link down events to the upper
layers without delay.
Do not use this command on Ethernet interfaces with MSTP or Smart Link enabled.
NOTE:
This command does not apply to ports administratively shut down (with the
shutdown
command).
Examples
# Enable link down suppression on GigabitEthernet 1/0/1, setting the suppression interval to 8 seconds.

loopback
Syntax
loopback { external | internal }
View

Default level
2: System level
Parameters
external
: Enables external loopback testing to test all on-chip functions related to Ethernet ports.
internal
: Enables internal loopback testing to test hardware of Ethernet ports.
Description
Use the
loopback
command to perform loopback testing.
NOTE:
•
You can perform neither internal nor external loopback testing on an administratively down (ADM
DOWN) port. On a physically down (DOWN) port, you can perform only internal loopback testing.
•
During loopback testing, the
speed
,
duplex
,
mdi
, and
shutdown
commands are not available. In
addition, the port is operating in full duplex mode, regardless of its duplex configuration. After
loopback testing is disabled, the duplex configuration of the port restores.
•
Loopback testing is a one-time operation, and is not recorded in the configuration file.
