Functions of components
Controller and switch card are required to operate the matrix and are part of the
scope of delivery.
The matrix switch components have the following tasks:
The
controller card (1)
administrates, monitors and controls all matrix switch func-
tions.
The
switch card (4)
contains the central switching logic of the matrix switch.
The user modules and target modules of the KVM system are connected to the 16
ports of each
IO card (3)
.
Each
fan board (2
and
5)
provides two fans. The fans ofthe
Fan IN
boards suck air
from outside into the device. The fans ofthe
Fan OUT
boards blow air out of the
casing.
A filter placed in front of the fans of the
Fan IN
board protects the components in
the casing against dust.
Up to three
power supply modules (6)
supply power to the matrix switch. If you use at
least two power supply modules, you can replace one of the modules during ope-
ration.
By distributing the load, the power is supplied evenly across all active power sup-
ply modules.
IMPORTANT:
In addition to controller and switch card, operating the matrix
requires one
IO card (3)
, two
fan boards (2)
on the front panel, two
fan boards (5)
on the
back panel and at least one
power supply module(6)
.
IMPORTANT:
It is important to change the filters regularly. The time between
changing filters depends on how much the device is exposed to dust:
strong dust exposure:
1 month
regular dust exposure:
3 months
light dust exposure:
6 months
Regularly check the condition of the filter. Clean lightly dusted filters by tapping
and/or light bursts of compressed air. Change the filter
at the latest
after a period
of six months.
