Twin Row to Single Row Conversion
Crushing Hazard
Make sure machine is secure before working
on the planter or making any adjustments. A
falling machine or flailing parts can cause
severe injury or even death.
This section covers adjustments necessary to convert
your twin row planter with the optional side-shift system to
single row planting operations within an hour. This option
is only available on twin row planters with 38 inch and 40
inch row spacing. Always make adjustments with
safety in mind.
There are five necessary adjustments to achieve
single row planting operations on your twin row
planter:
 Side-Shift Hitch Offset
 Row Unit Lock-Up
 Disable Seed Meters
 Gauge Wheel Offset
 Lift Assist Wheel Offset (Option)

Side-Shift Hitch Offset
Crushing Hazard
Do not make any adjustments in the hitch
area including connecting and disconnecting
hydraulic lines without first ensuring the
tractor engine is stopped, the parking brake
is set, and the key is removed. You may be
severely injured or killed by being crushed
between the tractor and planter.
Pinch Point, Crushing, and Moving Hazards
Moving parts can pinch or crush causing
serious injury or death. Keep all persons away
when making adjustments to the planter.
Whenever converting a twin row spacing planter to
single row spacing planting operations, it will be
necessary to offset the hitch by four inches (10.2 cm)
to maintain center-of-bed alignment.
3-Point Side-Shift Hitch Offset
1. Move the planter to level ground with adequate
overhead and side-to-side clearance for
unfolding the planter.
2. Using the 3-point hitch, fully raise the planter.
3. Extend the tractor hydraulic fold lever to fully
unfold the planter.
4. Set the fold circuit to “Neutral” to prevent wing
droop.
5. Install the wing locks pins on the toolbar coupling.
6. Lower the implement to just above ground level
at the rear of row units.
7. If the ground is soft, place a board or plate under
each stand to increase contact area.
8. Set parking stands.
9. Unhitch planter from tractor.
10. Keeping each of the two sets of the shim
configurations (1) (C) (D) intact:
a. Loosen the three bolts (2) and nuts, and remove
the two sets of the shim configurations (1). Set
aside, keeping the shim configurations intact,
and in order.
b. Slide the spacer weldment (3) to the far left until
flush with the lower pin weldment (A).
c. Secure with a bolt and nut (2).
d. Retrieve shim configuration (1) (D) and place
flush with the right side of the spacer weldment
(3). Secure with a bolt and nut (2).
e. Retrieve shims configuration (1) (C) and place on
the far right lower pin weldment (B) and secure
with bolt and nut (2).
11. Repeat steps a through e to shift the shims on
other lower pin on hitch.
12. Connect the tractor lift arms to the lower hitch
pins.
