Chapter 5 – Firebird Key Tester
Firebird 2 KeyTester
(KEYTEST.EXE)
You can use the simple, DOS-based Firebird 2 KeyTester program to test your
joystick’s button settings.
1. Start KeyTester. From any directory, type: KEYTEST <Enter>.
If your Firebird 2 directory is not listed in your PATH state-
ment, you will have to change to the Firebird directory
before you run this program.
The KeyTester window opens, displaying a computer keyboard.
2. To test your joystick’s button settings, press each button, one at a time, and
watch the keyboard image to see which key is highlighted or, in the case
of keystroke strings, which keys appear in the status line.
When you press a button set up as a joystick button, the KeyTester display
should show that the joystick button is “down.” When you release the
button, the KeyTester screen shows that the joystick button is “up.”
Use this program to verify that your settings are mapped correctly to the
joystick buttons and that Firebird 2 sends the correct commands to your
games.
