TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM

Engine does not
crank.
1. PTO engaged.
2. Parking brake disengaged.
3. Loose or corroded battery
cables.
4. Discharged battery.
5. Faulty starter.
1. Disengage PTO.
2. Engage parking brake.
3. Clean and tighten battery
4. Charge battery (see
5. See your Gravely Dealer.
Engine cranks but
does not start.
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Air cleaner is plugged or
dirty.
3. Fuel filter is dirty.
4. Faulty engine.

Oil pressure light is
on.
1. Oil pressure is low.

Engine continues to
run when ignition key
is in the off position.
1. Ignition ground wire
disconnected.
2. Ignition switch failure.
1. Connect ground wire to clean
metal surface.
2. Replace ignition switch (see
your Gravely Dealer).
Water temperature
gauge is reading
above normal (engine
is overheating).
1. Engine oil level low.
2. Coolant level low.
3. Radiator plugged with
debris.
4. Faulty radiator.
1. Add engine oil. Refer to
Engine Manual.
2. Add coolant (see

PTO or mower blades
do not engage or shut
off.
1. Operator presence switch
not depressed.
2. Faulty PTO switch.
1. Depress operator presence
switch by sitting on seat.
2. Check the electrical system to
the clutch for damage or wear.

2. Transmission bypass levers
open.
3. Hydraulic oil level low.
