Section 5 — System Operation
Macros apply to the point of use active during the macro recording. For
example, recording a macro that turns on Matte Fill on M/E 1 Keyer 1 will
affect M/E 1 Keyer 1 when it is played back, regardless of what keyer the
panel happens to be delegated to when the macro is played.
Macros record triggers, not the result of a trigger. For example, a macro con-
taining a Key Mix transition, when run, will trigger the key transition from
its current state to the other state. If the keyer is on, it will mix off, and if off,
it will mix on.
Macro Playback
Macros can be played back from the keyer bus when delegated to Macro
operation, and can also be played back from the Macro menu. Macros can
also be attached to other panel buttons for playback. Forty-eight macros are
available for immediate playback on the delegated Macro row on the Main
panel, 23 unshifted and 23 shifted buttons. For consistency the farthest left
shifted macro button is the 51st of the 100 macro registers, which means
macros 24 through 50 are not available on this row. All 100 macro registers
can be played back from the Macro menu, and any macro register can be
made available on the Menu panel via attachments.
Macro Attachments
Macros can be attached to other Main panel buttons. Attached macros can
either augment the button’s normal function or replace it. A Pre Attach
macro executes when the button is pressed, followed by the button’s
normal action. A Post Attach macro executes after the button’s normal
action. A Replace Attach macro substitutes the macro for the button’s
normal action. Any combination of Pre, Post, or Replace Attach macros can
be associated with the same button. This makes it possible to have a single
button press play three separate macros, though this is not a typical sce-
nario.
