Detail Enhancer Tab
The Detail Enhancer allows you to apply a level of enhancement to the signal to regain lost
detail or to simply create a sharper image. Horizontal and Vertical slide controllers allow
you to adjust the magnitude of the enhancer to be set both horizontal and vertical
directions. These controls only work after down-scaling of video resolution. For example,
2160p to 1080p or 1080i for instance.
The
Mode Control allows you to select the particular luminance frequency band to be
enhanced – Medium Frequency or High frequency.
Horizontal and Vertical Enhancer Controls are usually used with restraint by only making
minor adjustments. The optimum settings of the Horizontal and Vertical Detail Enhancer
are dependent on the source. The amount of aliasing on the output will be dependent
upon the higher frequencies present in the source content and a balance would need to be
established between aliasing artifacts, picture sharpness, and the amount of detail. For
example, if the enhancers are configured to allow more high frequency content through,
this will have the benefit of making the output pictures appear sharper, but the effect can
come at the cost of introducing aliasing to the image.
