2 Setup

2.16 Adjusting the blade length and the tool condition

Adjusting the blade length

If the blade length is not adjusted to fit the utilized label materials (media) and cutter blade, it will not be
possible to achieve an optimal cut. After adjusting the blade length manually, run a test cut and adjust
further.
(1) Adjust the blade length with same level of the tip of the blade holder as shown in the picture below.

Gradually adjust the blade length to the thickness of the label material from the 0 length.

(2) Extend the gradually to the thickness of the label material. A blade length that is lesser than the

thickness of the backing sheet matched to the film, and greater than the thickness of the film is
optimal. Try cutting the film, and adjust so that there are cutting trace marks in the backing sheet. If
the backing sheet has been completely cut, increase the blade length if it is too short and there are
remaining cuts in the film.

The blade length is adjusted by turning the blade length adjustment knob. Turn the blade clockwise
to lengthen the blade; turn counterclockwise to retract. The blade extends ap. 0.1 mm for every
calibrated rotation.

(3) The media of “FNS Mat N50-1310B” is installing to the LCX603. Have about 0.1 mm blade length this

time. (Turn the one scale unit clockwise from the 0 mm blade length.)

(4) Confirm the cutting condition by the cutting test.

Increase the cutting force a little if the media was not cut enough.
Increase the blade length a little if the media was not cut enough after the cutting force is increased.
(The blade length does not have enough length to cut the media. Turn a half scale unit clockwise to
have enough length to cut the media.)
