Batteries contain electrolytes and acids that can be harmful and volatile. They can also present
an electrical hazard. When handling or servicing batteries, exercise caution and follow these
guidelines.
• Avoid contact between skin, eyes, and clothing. Protective gloves and eye wear should be worn
when servicing to minimize risk.
• Batteries can produce explosive gases. Ventilate when charging. Keep sparks, flames and
cigarettes away at all times.
• An insulated boot should cover battery terminals in normal use. Never allow anything metal to
bridge between the positive and negative terminals which could arc or create a burn hazard.
• Keep battery terminals clean by scrubbing them with a stiff brush and a mixture of baking soda
and water. Afterwards, apply a light coat of grease or corrosion preventative.
• Batteries should be secured to minimize movement when the boat is in use.
This is not a complete set of guidelines. It is your responsibility to safely maintain your
batteries and avoid injury. Use good judgement and remain alert when working with batteries. In
the event of an accident, immediately seek medical attention.
LED L
IGHTING
LED (light emitting diode) fixtures do not have bulbs and are not serviceable. LED’s have
extremely long life and should not need replacement during the life of the boat. In the event of
damage or malfunction, the entire light assembly should be replaced. See your Grady-White
dealer for replacement LED lights.
W A R N I N G
Do not allow any electrically conductive material to make contact with both the positive and
negative terminals at the same time (i.e. a hand tool used when disconnecting and reconnecting
battery cables). A short of this nature can cause severe burns and create dangerous sparks which
could result in personal injury and/or property damage.
C A U T I O N
When disconnecting and reconnecting battery cables, the black cable must be connected to the
negative terminal and the red cable must be connected to the positive terminal. Reversing these
connections will immediately damage your system.
Never disconnect the battery when the engine is running. This can cause damage to the charging
system. When replacing your battery, use the same brand and type as the factory installed battery.
If this is not available, reference your engine Owner’s Manual for recommended battery type and
required performance specifications.
