8. Installation

For the connection of the temperature sensor to the case construction only drill a suitable

hole (D = 4mm) and insert the feeler and seal the drilling permanently by sealing (for

example with silicone).

The sensor is sealed waterproof and resistant against acids, lye and chemicals. For

alternative problems please refer to the GPSoverIP Customer-Service.

8.4. Connection to the CAN-Bus/FMS Interface of the Vehicle

If you want to transmit some of the CAN-Bus-Data of your vehicle (for example vehicle

identification, fuel level and consumption, service intervals, axle load and so forth) via

the GPSeye IN1 directly to your computer, you should absolutely notice that the Union

of the

European Commercial Vehicle Manufacturers

since 2004 expressly refers that the

direct connection to the CAN-Bus is forbidden.

The possible influence on the on-board electronics by this direct data decrease can

influence the flawless functionality of the vehicle - until failure - negatively. The union

refers unmistakably that in case of the direct data decrease of the CAN-Bus any guarantee

of the vehicle manufacturer will be void.
For reasons of the product liability for consequential damages of this direct data link to

the CAN-Bus we also refuse any guarantee for consequential damages at the vehicle.

As a possibility nevertheless to get CAN-Bus data of the vehicle, the FMS-standard

(

anagement

ystem, a common standard agreed by European Manufacturers of

utility vehicles for the communication between the electronics of the vehicle and on-board-

computers) is solely expressly referred to. In this case a data exchange with the GPSauge

IN1 is possible. The guarantee for the GPSeye IN1 is not influenced in this case.

Also solutions of suppliers - that also prove a CAN-certification for the respective vehicle

manufacturer - with evaluable adapter-solutions must be adjusted to the individual
