Silverado/Sierra Hybrid

Automatic Engine Start/Stop

Override

The engine will shut off to conserve fuel

when the vehicle is stopped during most

driving. However, the automatic override

feature may cause the engine to start or

remain running at a complete stop if:

• The outside temperature is high, 

usually above 95°F, and the climate 

control system is in the Auto mode 

cooling the cabin.

• The brake pedal is released while in 

Drive or Third (3) or Park.

• The shift lever is in Neutral, Reverse, 

Second (2) or First (1).

• The battery pack charge is low.

• The Tow/Haul button is engaged.

• The transaxle is in 4LO.

• It is necessary to maintain 120-volt 

APO operation.

• The hood is not fully closed.

System

To manually override the engine

start/stop function, press the Tow/Haul

button located on the end of the column

shift lever. This disables the engine from

performing the auto stop function.

Press the button again, or turn off the

ignition, to enable the automatic engine

start/stop override function.

vides up to 2,400 watts of 120-volt AC

power. APOs are located inside the

cabin, below the rear seat, and in the

truck bed, near the tailgate on the pas-
