Encryption
: Many SMTP servers/providers provide the option of an encrypted
connection. TLS (Transport Layer Security) has now become the most common form of
encryption. If you use this option, a specific port must generally be used (standard for TLS
is 993). Find out the correct port number from your provider or network administrator.
Enter this in the SMTP server field after the server address and separated by a colon (e.g.,
smtp.example.com:993).
Type of SMTP dispatch
Most SMTP servers await the sender to "log in" before sending eMails. This can occur via
SMTP with AUTH
with user name and password or with the, now seldom used
SMTP after
POP3
, whereby it is checked whether there are new messages on the incoming post
server (POP3) first. The log in data used here also applies for the subsequent eMail
dispatch. To use this option, set
SMTP with AUTH
to
no
, then activate
SMTP after POP3
and input the address of the POP3 server.
Before saving the configuration, the correctness of the data can be checked by clicking on
Test
, where you can also make any necessary changes.
Web server
As a default,
HTTPS Service
is already activated alongside HTTP for the Gigaset T300 PRO /
Gigaset T500 PRO web server. Both services are available on the standard port numbers,
which you can freely change.
The
Force redirect to HTTPS
option enables access to the Gigaset T300 PRO / Gigaset
T500 PRO web user interface via HTTPS only.
HTTPS and server certificate
HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) is a network protocol for encoding data being
transferred using SSL/TLS and provides:
u
Data confidentiality, i.e., the data can not be viewed by third parties.
u
Data integrity, as the data can not be manipulated.
u
Authenticity through the certainty of being connected only to the requested web server.
A certificate for the web server is required to use HTTPS. In the Gigaset T300 PRO / Gigaset
T500 PRO, there is only a provisional certificate available.
Click on
New Certificate
to open an entry screen. Two entries are absolutely necessary in
this screen:
u
The server name indicates the domain for which the certificate should apply.
u
The number of days for which the certificate should be valid.
Important
The TLS encryption requires a valid server certificate. Self-signed certificates will not
be accepted
Please note
If HTTP is deactivated or the port number is not
80
, problems with several
connections may arise, e.g., the addressbook for Gigaset SIP phones.
