System Hardware Installation

3-5  Installing the Hard Disk Drive

Read the following guidelines before you begin to install the hard disk drive:
•  Take note of the drive tray orientation before sliding it out.

•  The tray will not fit back into the bay if inserted incorrectly.

•  Make sure that the hard disk drive is connected to the hard disk drive connector on the 

backplane.

Follow these instructions to install a 3.5" hard disk drive: 

1.  Loosen the thumbscrew securing the HDD cage.

2.  Press down the latch and pull out the HDD

 

cage at the same time.

3.  Open the latches on the side of HDD cage.

4.  Slide the hard disk drive into the HDD cage. 

5.  Push inward to make sure the HDD latches are in a locked position.

6.  Reinstall the HDD cage into the chassis.

7.  Tighten the thumbnail screw to secure the HDD cage in place. Finally, use a screw driver to secure 

the screw firmly.
