Configuring SC-ADT for Typical Applications
The following procedure configures the SC-ADT for a typical deployment in your network as an
async terminal server or as an async data transport device. Procedures are the same for the 16-port
or 32-port device except where noted. Before configuring the SC-ADT, ensure that the unit has
already been initialized as described in the previous section:

Some ADMIN mode configuration commands (i.e., enabling the craft port or setting up user accounts)
cannot be accessed or executed via the web interface.

Appendix A, Application Guidelines .
Basic Configuration
Management Configuration Settings
The first three steps of this procedure are required in order to configure the SC-ADT for
management. You must change the SC-ADT from its default settings, as shown. Throughout this
procedure you can type

1. Configure the HTTP Service to enable access by typing:
services http enable
2. Configure the SNMP Service to enable access by typing:
services snmp enable
3. If desired, enable management access via ethernet (the default setting) by typing:
services telnet enable
Optional Configuration Settings
The remaining steps use default values pre-loaded in the SC-ADT unit. If the default value applies
to your network, you do not need to re-enter it. Otherwise, enter the value that best suits your
network environment. Type

following any command, sub-command or parameter for context-

4. Set the system prompt by typing:
configure prompt
[ADT-16] or [ADT-32]
5. Configure the Inactivity Timer to disconnect a management session after the desired interval
(in seconds) has elapsed. Range is 0 - 10,000 sec, where 0 disables the timer.
