Remote SC-ADT Management Procedure
1. Start a Telnet/SSH session to the SC-ADT by defining the desired service and target device:
telnet
[SC-ADT IP address]
ssh
[SC-ADT IP address]
2. Login to the SC-ADT with a valid username and password. The following Welcome screen
will appear, followed by a command line prompt:

3. Enable supervisor privileges by typing:
enable
[supervisor-level password]
4. The SC-ADT is now operating in supervisor mode as shown by the
#
symbol in the new CLI
prompt, with all CLI options available, except User Accounts.
5. You can now remotely configure the SC-ADT to suit your network by typing the required
configurations commands at the CLI prompt. You do not need to set parameters that coincide
with system defaults. Any configuration changes will take affect immediately.
Remote Port Access Procedures
The SC-ADT supports Telnet/SSH access to each enabled port via the ADT Telnet menu, SSH menu,
or direct Telnet or SSH “cut-thru” to a specific port. Each method is desctibed below.
Activate the Telnet/SSH Menu
This procedure is only necessary to activate the menu in the SC-ADT for the first time, or to enable/
disable ports as required.
1. Check that Telnet/SSH management is enabled and the port to be accessed is also enabled in
the SC-ADT as described in this section under the paragraph,

2. Start a Telnet session at the DOS prompt by typing:
telnet
[SC-ADT IP address]
3. Login to the SC-ADT with a valid username and password. If necessary, override any other
Telnet CLI session in progress as instructed by the screen prompt.
4. Enable supervisor privileges by typing:
enable
[supervisor-level password]
5. Configure the SC-ADT to allow the Telnet/SSH menus as needed, by typing:
configure ports tel-menu enable
or
configure ports ssh-menu enable
6. Check the configuration by typing:
show services
7. Be sure that a username and password has been defined in the SC-ADT for each remote user.
8. Exit the Telnet session. The remote user can now initiate a Telnet/SSH menu session or Telnet/
SSH cut-thru session, as described in the procedures below.
