In the course of tearing down a complete engine for service
and repairs, the engine shrouds and housing will need to be
removed. The following section briefly describes the order in
which these items should be removed.
. Remove air cleaner assembly and carburetor as described
in Section 2, “AIR CLEANERS AND CARBURETION.”
2. Disconnect the governor rod and anti-lash spring from the
carburetor.
. Remove the five capscrews from the blower housing
assembly (see Figure 0-).
Carefully remove the blower housing, making sure not to
stretch the wires from the RUN/STOP switch and low oil pres-
sure switch (LOPS). When the housing is far enough away from
the engine, these wires may be unplugged.
. Remove the capscrew from the lower shroud (see Figure
0-).
5. Remove the two capscrews from the upper shroud (see
Figure 0-).
NOTE: The blower housing is notched at the point where
the governor rod and anti-lash spring pass through it.
This allows the housing to be removed without discon-
necting the governor rod from the governor arm.
NOTE: It will be helpful to make note of the locations of
the screws that hold the covers in place.
INSTALLATION OF HOUSING AND SHROUDS:
To reinstall the housing and shrouds, reverse the previous
steps. Make sure that the wires for the RUN/STOP switch and
low oil pressure switch (LOPS) are not in the way of the hous-
ing during reassembly.
