8. TROUBLESHOOTING
8.1 GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING
Symptom Possible Cause Solution
Communication never gets
established or is lost. (No signal bars
or battery reading)
Data cable is not connected.
USB Module is not connected
Verify the connection of
the Ethernet cable and USB
module to the computer's USB
port.
Serial number within the
'Environment' does not match the
simulator.
Navigate to the blue gear in the
upper right-hand corner of the
UNI software and click 'Setup'
>'Options'>'Environment'. Enter
the correct serial number and
click save. The serial number
for HAL can be found on his
left thigh under his IM site.
Incorrect intubation reading.
Simulator indicates that no ETT is
present. Remove ETT and restart the
software.
Sensor requires a reset.
In the UNI software, click
the blue gear icon in the
upper right-hand corner>
'Setup' > 'Calibration' . On
the calibration menu click the
'Factory Settings' button in
the bottom left-hand corner.
On the Factory Setting menu,
click the 'Reset ET Tube Sensor'
button, and you should get a
green 'OK' when the sensor is
successfully reset.
Simulator's chest does not rise with
artificial ventilation (e.g., BVM)
Disabled lung(s)
Enable the lungs within the UNI
software. Ensure that 'Chest
Rise' is on for both sides of the
chest.
