Replacing the diskette drive, card reader,
or second hard drive
To replace the diskette drive, card reader, or second hard drive:
1
Disconnect the AC adapter and modem and network cables, then prepare the
notebook by following the instructions in
“Preparing the notebook” on page 6 .

Turn the notebook over so the bottom is facing up.

Remove the battery by following the instructions in “Removing the battery” on
page 7 .

Slide the module release latch, then remove the module from the notebook.

Slide the new module into the notebook.

Replace the battery, connect the AC adapter and modem and network cables, then
turn on the notebook.
Important This modular bay on the Gateway M675 can hold a diskette drive, a
memory card reader, or a second hard drive. The replacement
procedure is the same for any module.
