Creating a SAN LUN mapping

65
ADD NEW MAP section
In this section you can locate the logical drive to which you will be mapping,
assign a LUN (logical unit number) to the logical drive, set the permissions of
the mapping, and select which ports or channels of the controller you want the
logical drive to be seen on.
In the
ADD NEW MAP
section, the option
Host Port
displays the following
choices for your controller: C0P0, C0P1, C1P0, and C1P1. Where C0 represents
the lower controller and C1 represents the upper controller, and P0 represents
Host 0 and P1 is Host 1. Choose the ports on which you want the logical drive
to be seen and to which you have cables connected.
SELECTED HOST HBA PORT CONNECTION Section
In the
SELECTED HOST HBA PORT CONNECTION
section, a graphic appears
when a Host HBA Port is selected. This graphic illustrates the physical
connection from the Host HBA Port to the connector at the rear of the enclosure.
This enables you to see the physical topology while performing the mapping,
which is helpful to fully implement the supported topology you selected during
the hardware configuration and setup.
In an Active-Active configuration you might setup a fail-over mapping where
one Host HBA Port is connected to the Host 0 port on the controller and the
other Host HBA Port is connected to the Host 1 port on the controller. When a
Fail-Over
condition occurs, the hardware re-routes the connection and you can
see the results by clicking the HBA Port that you mapped for the failed-over
condition. You can also see that the mapping is now on this port and not on
the failed port. This provides a visual confirmation of a fail-over. (This option is
not applicable to switch configurations.)
Creating a SAN LUN mapping
Creating a SAN LUN mapping involves identifying the Host Port, creating a user
defined name, assigning a LUN number to your mapping, establishing the
access permissions, and selecting the controller port to make the mapped
logical drive available.
