Gateway ALR 9250R User’s Guide

Verifying your configuration

If the server is not operating correctly, the BIOS may contain an invalid
configuration parameter. Enter the BIOS Setup program or the SSU and
check the configuration settings.

Troubleshooting guidelines

As you troubleshoot your system, keep the following guidelines in mind:

•

Never remove the system covers while the system is powered up.

•

If a peripheral such as the keyboard, mouse, drive, or printer does
not work, ensure that all connections are secure.

•

If an error message displays on the screen, write it down, word-for-
word. You may be asked about it when calling Technical Support.

•

Only qualified personnel should open the system for maintenance.

•

If you are qualified to maintain the system, make certain you are
properly grounded before opening the system’s chassis.

Completing the installation

Once the cables are connected, you can use the system. However, there are
some further procedures that help to ensure a clean installation and a
superior working environment for future maintenance activites.

Installing a cable retractor

Cable retractors offer setup advantages in that they reduce strain on the
drawer cables and connectors as well as simplifying maintenance because
they keep the cables neatly out of the way.

Position the cable retractor to the rear side of the cabinet so that the
mounting holes on both retractor and cabinet are aligned.
