1. Press the
FN
key and then the
FIS
functon key
when dsplayed.
2. Press the fourth functon smart key on the rght
to select the Forecast (
Fcst
) sub-functon.

MENU/ENT
key brngs up menu tems for
more sub-functons. Of the followng sub-func-
tons, only four may be selected at any gven
tme: Sfc On or Sfc Anmate, Cty, SIGMET,
AIRMET, Frz Lvls, County, or Cyclone.
NOTE:
Forecasts are intended to provide data on
expected conditions. Actual conditions may devi-
ate from the forecast. It is the pilot’s responsibil-
ity to obtain current information from official
sources and to update this information during the
flight.
Surface Analysis
When enabled, the Surface Analysis forecast shows
frontal lines indicating weather fronts and the direc-
tion they are moving. High and Low pressure centers
are noted with a large H or L. Forecasts are available
for intervals of current, 12, 24, 36, and 48 hours.
The Forecast Time menu item will step through the
intervals manually. The Surface Animate selection will
automatically step through the times to provide an
indication of how the weather systems are expected
to move. Animating Surface Analysis products will
disable the depiction of other enabled products. The
product time for the other enabled products will be
displayed as “N/A” while animation is active.
A Cold Front is a front where cold air replaces
warm air. A blue line with blue triangles that point in
the direction of the cold air flow.
A Warm Front is where warm air replaces cold air.
An orange line with orange half moons that point in
the direction of the warm air flow.
A Stationary Front is a front with very little hori-
zontal movement. The line alternates with orange and
blue sections which point in opposite directions to
symbolize little movement.
A Occluded Front is where a cold front has
overtaken and merged with a warm front. The line
alternates with the blue triangle and orange half moon
symbols on the same side of the line pointing in the
direction the front is moving.
