PROTECTION AGAINST LIGHTNING
Your boat is protected against lightning. The rig is connected electrically to the ground.
Nevertheless, for your own safety, it is necessary for you to respect certain precautions.
15.1.
Maintenance
If the vessel has been hit by lightning:
The protection installation must be inspected in order to detect the material damage
and check the integrity of the device as well as the continuity of the grounding.
The compass, electrical and electronic devices must be examined in order to determine
if damage or a change in calibration has occurred.
15.2.
Protection of persons during a storm
WARNING
During a storm, it is preferable to respect the following instructions:
Persons must remain down below as much as possible.
Persons must not end up in the water or let their arms or legs dangle in the water.
Whilst ensuring satisfactory control of the vessel and navigation, persons must not
touch any part connected to an installation in order to protect them from lightning,
ensuring in particular that they do not link these parts together.
It is desirable that persons avoid all contact with the metal parts of the rig, deck fitting
and guardrail.
