4.7.18 RFA Remote Function Actuator (2017+)
Add key
(VIN Locked L405, L494 L460, L461, L462, L538, L551, L560, L663, X540, X761,
X590, X760, X250)
This routine is used to add one (1) new key to the vehicle. It will not remove previously programed
keys.
Instructions
An already programed key is needed to begin the procedure. Instructions will be displayed on screen.
When prompted, press and hold the unlock button of the remote. Pressing the unlock button will be
done a few times in a row to complete all programming steps. The horn will be activated during the
procedure.
Note :
• A used key can be programed to a vehicle. Once programed, it will no longer work on the pre -
vious vehicle. The emergency start (dead remote battery) will not work on the new vehicle.
• Later L494 and L405 in certain regions have been locked and key programming cannot have a
key added. The KVM needs to be replaced at a Jaguar Land Rover dealer.

• If upon programing the process fails with Error E7 , please contact us for assistance. This will
occur on certain KVM firmware version. Keys can be programed but the process requires us to
provide a file to reflash the KVM.
• In ordr to code a key, some 2020+ vehicles must be put into service mode using the LR Remote
App;
