Different setup screens are provided in the configurator for the various functions and settings of the MCT. It is
important to note; however, that the loop controllers must be set up independently of the configurator, via the
loop controller itself. Refer to the operating manual for the model loop control being used for information on
how to access the various input and output settings in order to properly set up the controller to match the
application.
IMPORTANT: Once all
configuration settings are made, you must select “Exit” from the File menu to exit the
Configurator prior to cycling power to the MCT. All configuration files are written upon exiting
the Configurator. Do not cycle power prior to exiting the Configurator or settings will be lost
and the MCT will not operate properly once the runtime application starts.
Upon exiting the Configurator application and cycling power to the MCT, the runtime application
will be automatically started on the next boot sequence.
To assist in setup and documentation of the MCT
, see the “MCT-CM Configuration Worksheet” Excel
file provided on the Future Design Controls website. This document provides setup and configuration
forms and templates for all of the MCT-CM configuration parameters.

4.1 IO Settings
The ‘IO Settings’ screen is accessed from the Setup menu. It is the primary configuration screen for the MCT
providing entries for setting the number of control loops and monitor points, number of analog and digital inputs
and outputs, number of process alarms as well as the number of system events available in the system. It also
provides the ability to set the auto-online feature for systems that do not use a local operator interface (HMI).
4.1.1
Setting the Number of Control Loops
The
# of Loops
field sets the number of loop controls that will be attached to the MCT. The maximum number
of control loops available is ten. If no control loops are used in the application, the number of control loops can
be set to zero. Once the number of loop controls is set, the loop configuration for each controller must be
performed so that the proper units, decimal point and set point ranges are used for each control loop.
See section 4.2 Loop Setup for information on configuring each control loop. When the MCT runtime application
is started, the MCT will automatically configure all loop view displays, trends and available log point selections
based on the settings for each control loop.
