How to Erase Weak Echoes
Sediment in the water or reflections from plankton may be painted on the display in
low intensity tones, as shown in the illustration below. You can remove these unwant-
ed echoes with the color erase feature.

How to erase weak echoes for the FCV-38 and external echo
sounders
Where [External Fish Finder Window] is set to [Off] at installation, this setting is ap-
plied to the external fish finder also.
1. Select the [Advanced Settings] icon (
) from the InstantAccess bar™ to show
the [Advanced Settings] menu.
2. Select the [Advanced Settings] icon (
) from the [Advanced Settings] menu. The
[Advanced Settings] window appears.
3. The [Sounder] menu item is already selected and the [Sounder] menu appears on
the right-side of the window. Select [Color Erase] from the [Sounder] menu.
4. Adjust the [Color Erase] setting until the picture shows minimal reflections. As the
setting increases, reflections are removed in order, from weakest to strongest.
5. Select [Apply] to save the current changes and change or adjust other settings.
Select [OK] to save the current changes and close the menu window.
Select [Cancel] to abort all changes and close the menu window.
