How to Measure Depth and Position of a School
of Fish
You may measure the depth to a school of fish or bottom with the horizontal VRM
(Variable Range Marker). Further, you may find the position of the school with the ver-
tical VRM.
How to measure depth
1. Select the [Display] icon (
) from the InstantAccess bar™ to show the [Display]
menu, then select the horizontal VRM icon (
). The icon is now highlighted in
green color and the VRM appears on the display.
2. Drag and drop the VRM so that it intersects the echo who’s depth you want to
measure.
3. The depth is displayed above (or below) the VRM, at the center of the VRM.
4. To hide the horizontal VRM, select the [Display] icon (
) from the InstantAccess
bar™, then select the horizontal VRM icon (
).
How to measure position
Note:
This feature requires position data from a EPFS. If position data is lost, position
information is not shown.
1. Select the [Display] icon (
) from the InstantAccess bar™ to show the [Display]
menu, then select the vertical VRM icon (
).
The [VRM] icon is now highlighted in green color and the VRM appears on the
display.
2. Drag and drop the VRM so that it touches the school of fish for which you want to
know its position. The position is displayed to the left of the VRM.
To hide the VRM, repeat steps 1 and 2, in order.
3. Read the latitude and longitude position shown on the VRM.
4. To hide the vertical VRM, select the [Display] icon (
) from the InstantAccess
bar™, then select the vertical VRM icon (
).
