6.8 Installing a Parallel Port Option

When you want to use, install a parallel port option.

Before installation, refer to "B.5 Parallel Port Option" (

pg.259) to check the packaged contents.

For the location of the parallel port, refer to "1.3.2 Server (rear view)" (

pg.25).

6.8.1 How to Install a Parallel Port

Turn off the server and connected devices, and unplug all power cables from 
the outlet.

Remove the side cover.

Touch a metal part of the server to discharge static electricity.

• When installing or removing a parallel port, turn off the server, all peripheral            

devices, and any other connected devices. Also unplug all power cables from           
the outlet.
Failure to do so can cause electric shock.

• Touch only the specified part of the printed circuit board. 

Failure to do so could cause injury and also damage the server.

• Be careful not  to be  injured when handling the  parallel  port  connector panel            

that is removed from the rear of the server.
