Configuring the Server

Starting Up and Operation

Configuring the Onboard SATA Controller

The server is equipped with an onboard SATA controller, which supports RAID
levels 0, 1 and 10 with LSI SATA Software RAID.

I

The controller has its own configuration utility. More detailed information
may be found in the “Embedded SATA Software RAID for ICH7R User’s
Guide” manual (on the

ServerBooks

CD under “Controller”).

The

ServerStart

CD supplied allows you to conveniently configure the server and

install the operating system. The menu-guided configuration includes the server
configuration with the

SCU

and the RAID controller configuration with the

GAM

(Global Array Manager) or

ServerView RAID

.

Details of how to operate

ServerStart

and further information can be found in the

“PRIMERGY ServerView Suite - ServerStart” manual (see

“Literature” on

5.4.2

Configuration without ServerStart

Configuring IME (RAID Level 1)

The server has an onboard SAS controller with “Integrated Mirroring Enhanced”
functionality.

I

A separate utility is available to the controller for IME configuration. For
further information, refer to the “Integrated RAID for SAS User’s Guide”
on the

ServerBooks

CD (select “Controllers” from the menu).

You find further information in the Technical Manual for the system board (see

“Literature” on page 103

) and on the driver diskettes provided.

Configuring the Onboard SATA Controller

The server is equipped with an onboard SATA controller, which supports RAID
levels 0 and 1 with LSI SATA Software RAID.
