Basic software procedures

5.2.7

Looking for MAC addresses

The customer needs to know the new address of the controller:

– When replacing the system board with an onboard LAN controller
– When adding or replacing a network controller

Different controllers send different addresses:

– LAN controller: MAC (Media Access Control) address

5.2.7.1

Looking for the MAC address of a LAN controller

When replacing a network controller, the MAC (Media Access Control) address
will change.

There are several possible locations where these addresses can be found.

Checking the label

If available, check the label on the controller.
Beside the part number, you may find the MAC address.

Using an UEFI BIOS

Enter the BIOS setup menu.

Select the

System Information

menu.

Under Network Controller Details you will find information of MAC addresses
of each network controller.
The addresses are displayed at the

Advanced

menu main page.

Or:

Enter the BIOS setup menu.

Select the

Advanced

menu.

The addresses are displayed at the

Advanced

menu main page.

Only network controllers supporting the Command Line Protocol
(CLP) will be displayed.
LAN controller provide the MAC addresses independent on Legacy
Boot or UEFI Boot.

For more information see the corresponding BIOS reference manual.

Inform the customer about the new or changed MAC address.
