The following steps (storing the DAC configuration on diskette) are
essential to enable you to restore the original configuration when a Disk
Array Controller is replaced. Data security!
Ê In the main menu select the Tools option.
Ê
In the
Tools
menu select the
Backup/Restore Config
option, and then the
Backup
Configuration option.
Ê Enter a file name. The file name and drive designation together may be up to
10 characters long (for example:
a:\backup1
).
Ê Select YES . The configuration will then be stored on the system disk.
Ê
Quit the
DACCF
program.
Ê Restart the server.
Configuring the Disk Array Controller (PCI)
If you have a PCI bus disk array controller fitted in your server, you must configure
the disk array controller as described in this section. A DOS system disk is
supplied to the system.
Ê
Start the server with the inserted DOS system disk.
Ê Remove the DOS system disk from the drive and insert the utility disk of the
DAC into the drive.
Ê In the directory DACCFG start the DAC utility DACCF and perform a DAC
configuration.
You should also make the following settings:

delayed power-on of the drives
−
Fast-SCSI bus (20 Mbyte/s)
Ê Note the information contained in the DAC manual in order to achieve optimal
system utilization and maximum performance.
Ê Be sure to save the configuration on the utility disk so that the configuration
data is available in the event of an error.
