2.5 Configuring for the Fast Memory Mode
As optional functions for faster memory, interleave modes and 4CPU mode are
available.
This section provides an overview of the interleave modes and 4CPU mode, along
with hardware conditions, setup procedures, and notes about use of these modes.
2.5.1 Interleave modes
(1) Overview
The following interleave modes are available:

Normal interleave mode
l
Expanded interleave mode
- Expanded 1-SB interleave mode
The expanded interleave mode has a function that improves performance in memory
access to a continuous area of memory space. The expanded interleave mode reduces
the possibility of memory device and memory bus conflicts, thereby increasing
memory throughput.
(2) Hardware conditions
The hardware conditions under which an interleave mode can be set are as follows:
a) Normal interleave mode
l
Memory modules must be mounted on the system boards as a group of
eight.
l
All memory modules of a group of eight must have the same capacity.
b) Expanded interleave mode
• Expanded 1-SB interleave mode
l
Memory modules must be fully mounted on the applicable system boards.
l
All memory modules mounted on each applicable system board must
have the same capacity.
