Adding Optional Internal Units

The following optional items can be added to the main unit:

Power supply unit (PSU)

CPU module

Memory module

Magnetic disk drive

PCI card

3.4.1

Adding PSUs

The redundant power supply requires one additional power cable.

PSU expansion is necessary to support the following possible additions to a
server:

• Redundant power supply (PSU)
• System board
• Dual power feed

The PSU expansion units used depend on whether dual power feed is
supported. For details, see

Figure 3.13

and

Figure 3.14

The redundant power supply must be installed to use PSU hot swapping.

The redundant power supply and dual power feed cannot both be used at the
same time.

Equipment damage

For this product and Fujitsu/Fujitsu Siemens Computers-supplied options, the
following operations should be performed only by a certified service engineer, to
prevent the occurrence of failures:
