Hot-plug hard disk drives
I
Upgrades, updates and replacement of non-hot-pluggable components
are described in the “Options Guide” or in the service supplement and
may only be performed by authorized specialist personnel.
V
CAUTION!
Follow the safety instructions in the chapter
“Important information” on
page 21
.
Up to four hot-pluggable hard disk drives can be installed in the PRIMERGY
TX120 server.
The hard disk drives which can be ordered for the PRIMERGY TX120 are
supplied already mounted in an installation frame so that defective hard disk
drives can be replaced and new drives can be added during operation. The
HDD drive and installation frame together make up the HDD module.
This chapter provides you with details of how to handle the HDD modules (see
page 62
) and how to install and remove HDD modules on your server (see
page 64
).
V
CAUTION!
●
The HDD must not be removed from the installation frame by anyone
except a service technician.
●
The HDD modules (drives) must all be marked clearly so that they
can be put back in their original places after an upgrade. If this is not
done, existing data can be lost.
●
The hot-plug function is only possible in conjunction with a corre-
sponding RAID configuration.
Further information about RAID configuration or the RAID level can
be found in the RAID controller documentation (see
“Literature” on
page 77
).
