Glossary
Tap
Device to split-up a small part of signal power, which is fed
into the antenna cable.
DiSEqC
Digital Satellite Equipment Control
Digital system, which is used to control several outdoor units
by the receiver. It is used especially to select between several
satellite positions (e.g. ASTRA and EUTELSAT).
Single-cable system
Device to select a number of transponders from N inputs to
a single output.
Channel
Frequency, which is used to transport the transponder to the
receiver.
LED
Light Emitting Diode
Element to emit light and display status information optical
respectively transfer signals in invisible light spectrum.
LNB
Low Noise Block Amplifier / Converter device in focus of an-
tennas, which shifts high frequency signals coming from satel-
lite into lower frequency signals and amplifies them.
Receiver
Device that converts the signals coming from antenna to video
and audio signals.
SCR
Sat Channel Router is a device which can supply a user at
a dedicated frequency with any transponder offered from the
satellite in focus of antenna. Primary the Sat Channel Router
consists of a multiswitch, which selects the polarisation level
and a frequency shifter which shifts the chosen transponder to
the user frequency. For control DiSEqC commands are used.
Slot
Number of the channel, this means the frequency, on which
the transponder is transferred to the receiver.
Transponder
Satellite frequency. On a transponder multiple digital pro-
grams can be transferred at the same time.
UB
User band or Slot (refer to User band respectively Slot)
User band
Number of the channel, this means the frequency, on which
the transponder is transferred to the receiver. (refer to Slot)
