Assembling the Motor and Pump
NOTE:
These assembly and operating instructions only describe action steps related to the motor. You
should also observe the pump unit manufacturer's instructions.
Remove the shaft protector. Ensure the motor shaft turns freely by hand. Clean the parts where the
motor and pump come together. Ensure the coupling is attached to the pump shaft, and that it will slide
onto the motor shaft.
1.
Place the motor in a vertical position with the shaft oriented upward.
2. Secure the motor so that it cannot move or fall while it is being connected to the pump.
3. Remove the Cable Guard from the pump after unscrewing the fastening screws.
4. Lift the pump with a crane or a hoist.
5. Put the pump into position over the motor.
6. Apply water-resistant, acid-free grease (e.g. Mobil FM 102, Texaco, Cygnus 2661, Gleitmo 746) to the
inner part of the coupling of the pump.
7. Align pump and motor on the same axis.
8. Lower the pump slowly until it completely engages the keyed shaft of the motor in the coupling.
9. Tighten the fastening bolts diagonally (10"/12": Bore
22.0 mm).
10. Use a screwdriver to lever the connection coupling of the two drive shafts.
11. Check that the pump has some axial play.
12. Secure the Cable Guard to the pump, ensuring the motor cable is under the guard.
NOTE:
Only use fixing screws of the relevant grade and dimensions approved by the pump unit manufac
-
turer. Observe the indicated torques.
