NOTE:
For the NEBS compliant installation, AC power connections shall use a SPD (surge protection device) in
order to protect the AC power supplies from damage to excessive power line surges.
1.
At the rear of the NetIron MLX-8 chassis, locate the power receptacle where the power supplies have been
installed.
2.
Lift the cord-retainer and connect a Foundry-supplied AC power cord to the power supply.
3.
Snap the cord-retainer over the power plug to hold it in place.

WARNING:
If the installation requires a different power cord than the one supplied with the device, make sure
you use a power cord displaying the mark of the safety agency that defines the regulations for power cords in your
country. The mark is your assurance that the power cord can be used safely with the device.
4.
For information about powering on the system, see “Powering-On the Power Source” on page 3-50.
Connecting DC Power to a NetIron MLX-8 Chassis
You can use a DC power source for the NetIron MLX-8 chassis. This is supported through use of a DC-to-DC
power supply. DC power must be supplied at 48 V and 30 A. The DC-to-DC supply provides the DC power to the
chassis at 12 V and 100 A.
WARNING:
The procedure in this section is for qualified service personnel.
To connect a DC power source, you must use the following directions:
1.
Use a flat-blade screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the transparent cover over the power supply
lugs.
