Installation
1.
Be sure that the surface of the hood is clean and dry.
2.
Cut out the four installation templates.
3.
Find and mark the centre line of the hood using a 5
” (127mm) strip of masking tape. The centre of the hood is identified by a crease in the surface of the
sheet metal running from the leading hood edge to the back of the hood. This step will help accurately place the templates from step 2.
4.
Locate templates #1 and #2 using the hood centre line and hood leading edge. Tape the templates to the hood surface with masking tape. (
See
Illustration #1).
5.
Locate templates #3 and #4 using a tape measure and the leading edge of the hood
.
Templates #3 and #4 are located 5
” (127mm) from the outer edges
of templates #1 and #2, installed in step 4. Tape the templates to the hood surface. (
See Illustration #1).
6.
Locate and place the four (4) bumpons to the hood surface using a tape measure and templates #3 and #4.
Attention: The Bumpons must be
installed on the hood, not the deflector!!!
If the Bumpons are installed on the deflector, they will wear through the paint. (
See Illustration #1)
.
7.
Snap the square expansion plugs into the top of the four (4) adhesive backed pedestals
.
8.
Temporarily place the pedestals into the cut-outs on the installation templates that are taped to the hood surface. Be sure to orientate the pedestals so
that the notches on the pedestals line up with the arrows on the templates.
Do not remove the red, protective backing from the pedestals!!!
9.
Confirm the placement of the pedestals by placing the hood protector on the pedestals. The four pedestals must align with the four holes in the hood
protector. If the holes do not line up, review and correct the placement of the templates and pedestals before proceeding.
10. Remove the hood protector and pedestals from the hood surface. Clean the hood surface in the cut-out areas of the templates with the alcohol wiping
pad. Allow the alcohol to dry.
11. Prime the hood surface in the cut-out areas of the templates with the primer stick provided. Follow instruction on primer stick.
12. Remove the red protective backing from the pedestals and place accurately into the locations in the templates. After placing, ensure a proper bond to the
hood by applying firm pressure with your thumb around the surface of the pedestals.
13. Remove the paper templates from the hood surface. Clean any residue from the primer with the alcohol wiping pad.
14. Place the hood protector on the pedestals and tighten the #8 x 7/16
” screws through the hood protector and into the square expansion plugs in the top of
the pedestals.
Do not over tighten.
Note: Do not pull on the protector when opening or closing the hood.
Care Instruction
